active learning

I've now had three 90 minute classes using a set of iPads for group work.  With the mix of discussion and group work I find myself using 3-4 sets of problems per class.  Each group is assigned one problem per set for which to post a solution to Moodle and then encouraged to work the others while waiting for other groups, etc.  How does this compare to those of you using physical huddle boards or clickers for active learning in class?

ADA Issues

I have a student this fall who uses a portable oxygen generator. There is concern about this in a lab setting  and I have been asked by student services if it might be possible to create labs that would be "safe" for this student. I would appreciate any thoughts on this

Thanks

graded homework

I'm interested in knowing what fraction of instructors use graded homework.  I had graded homework in my first year of teaching and then switched to quizzes.  A couple of times I tried online homework but dropped it.  I'm contemplating adding homework to the mix again.  If you assign graded homework, do you worry about students copying each other instead of actually struggling with the concepts themselves?

physical organic course

In the spring I will be teaching our physical organic chemistry course.  Last time I taught the course was ten years ago.  Does anybody have recommendations for textbooks I should check out?  I am considering the Anslyn and Dougherty book, which my younger colleagues both used in grad school courses.  It looks good, but I'm wondering if there are other options I should be aware of.
