By this I mean using experimental data in exercises to allow students to wrestle with imperfections.Bob Hanson had a set of about 30-40 reactions he shared some time ago that gave yields and product proportions for a large variety of SN1/SN2/E1/E2 reactions.Has anyone been able to compile another such dataset for teaching reactions?
In second semester organic lab, we have students carry out multistep syntheses. We are preparing to modify these synthesis projects for the upcoming term. As we implement these changes, we would like to gather feedback from students about how much they learned working on the projects. When you make curricular changes, what kind of survey or evaluation forms do you have students complete to assess the effectiveness of the curriculum?
