This book has molded my (Langdon Martin) teaching philosophy more than any other.  It discusses the principles of using Active Learning, formative and summative assessment, and leveraging diversity in the classroom.  Although the examples in the book are mostly for a biology course, I use the general principles for both General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry whenever I can.
